Safety in the Hospital
Safety in Your Room
All materials in your room are flame resistant, the beds have side rails and the bathrooms are equipped with safety handles and bars - all of which has your safety in mind. In addition, each room has an easily accessable nurse-call button. Your nurse will show you where this is located and how to use it.
Safety with Equipment
As a health care facility, DMH must adhere to strict electrical codes. Therefore, please don't bring personal radios, hair dryers, or other electrical appliances that may not conform to our safety requirements. Also, the use of cellular phones is prohibited on hospital grounds due to potential interference with medical equipment.
Your valuables
Unfortunately, we cannot be responsible for valuable personal items kept in your hospital room. We suggest that you leave jewelry, credit cards, money, unnecessary clothing, and other valuables at home.
Attention Patients
If you have a doctor’s order to be tested for Pertussis (Whooping Cough)or an order for any other possible upper respiratory infections, you will be asked to wear a mask while in the hospital setting. Because these infections are spread by coughing, so please do not remove your mask until you leave the hospital. Masks are available in Registration. Thank you for your support in preventing the spread of infections.
